Your Personal Code Of Conduct

We often say that we are learning into our values or that something, like family or respect, are a value we have. But what is a value really? Values are many things to many people, but the common part of having values is that it anchors you to your behaviours and actions and defines what you believe in and stand for. In this way VALUES are very important to our AWARENESS. They can guide us through tough times, give us insight into what to do when we are stuck and define our purpose. WHAT IS A VALUE? Values are stable long-lasting beliefs about what is important to you. They become standards by which you order your life and make your choices. A belief will develop into a value when your commitment to it grows, and you can see it as being important. It is possible to categorise beliefs into different types of values – examples include values that relate to happiness, wealth, career success or family. For your values to have any impact in your life, you need to be able to articulate your values with clarity and AWARENESS in order to make clear, rational, responsible and consistent decisions. Our values create our core strengths. They are part of us, are unique to us and define what we stand for. In a way they are a guiding force telling us the difference between right and wrong. Kind of like your own personal code of conduct, the rules you want to live by.
